Bonnie J. Brownell has worked in and around the federal government for over 30 years. She is the President of Brownell Landrigan and, since 2007, Managing Counsel for the Wright USA Federal Employee Professional Liability Program.

Ms. Brownell began her legal career in the federal government as an ERISA compliance officer with the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Washington Field Office. Upon graduating law school, she became an attorney with DOL, Office of the Solicitor. She subsequently served as an Administrative Law Judge for the District of Columbia. Moving into private practice, Ms. Brownell worked in insurance defense litigation, establishing and overseeing risk management programs for insurance companies, large employers, quasi-governmental entities, and the Department of Justice.

A native of Washington State, Ms. Brownell earned her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 1976 from the University of Washington in Seattle. She earned her J.D. from The George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C., in 1979.

She is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia and the State of Maryland.
